Shuswap Nation

The Shuswap people, also known as the Secwepemc, are a First Nations people who have lived in the interior of British Columbia, Canada for thousands of years.

They have a rich culture and history, and have traditionally relied on hunting, fishing, and gathering for their subsistence. The Shuswap people have a matrilineal kinship system and a complex social and political organization.

They have also had a long history of resistance to colonialism and the forced assimilation of their people by the Canadian government. Today, the Shuswap people continue to maintain their cultural traditions and are actively involved in issues related to self-determination and the protection of their traditional territories.
